There's no denying our love for a good wedding theme. It allows a wedding and a couple's personality to shine through and showcase even the smallest of details. This couple did an amazing job at keeping their theme vintage, and romantic. Soft colors, twinkle lights, and stunning gold and glitter accents pull this drop charming wedding together, all captured beautifully by Blissfully Illuminated Photography.
About their wedding: Unless you want to elope, planning your wedding day is not an easy task. I knew I wanted the wedding theme to be vintage, romantic. Although it can be a little played out, I knew in the middle of spring I could bring my own fresh twist to this popular wedding theme. I have been obsessed with mint since I was a teenager; my walls covered in this lively color. So when it came down to it, it was not that difficult! Mint with hints of gold to remind me of old French architectural design. (I'm half French) To really get some inspiration for my ideas, I easily spent hours staring at blogs, pinterest, and wedding websites. Various shades of mint were displayed throughout our wedding, with secondary items such as vases, candle holders, dessert stands, and our hand made mason jars showcasing the gold. Being a graphic designer, I really wanted to get in on the DIY action. All mason jars dipped in gold glitter were designed by me and the bridesmaids. The gold books displayed throughout, were all individually spray painted by me (the bride) as well as coming up with the guest table design. I was very specific with my floral selection, music, catering, and desserts. I even was selective on where the dance floor was going to be. I was that involved! I'm not saying all brides should be this particular with everything on her wedding day. It was just a process that I truly enjoyed! Do what makes you comfortable.
I know it can be cliché to say this, but there is not only one favorite memory. The whole wedding experience before, during, and after has been amazing. If I had to bullet point it, the memories that stood out were:
- Pre ceremony, when I'm in my gown and in the bridal suite, I am looking out the window and I start to see the vendors arrive with the décor. Then little by little, I see family and friends arriving. All this from the 2nd floor of my bridal suite. I almost lost it.
- Seeing my French and Colombian family in the same place at the same time. Most have never met eachother.
- My maid of honor singing for us with her amazing vocals
Wedding planning advice: Be patient and communicate. Whether you hire a planner or you're doing it all on your own, it's important to not take this whole experience too seriously. You're getting married! It should be fun. Stay organized. Sign up for a Pinterest account. Create boards for all aspects of your wedding such as Dress, Hair, Guest Tables, Flowers, etc. You can find just about anything. If you have a husband that gives you free range to do whatever you want, take full advantage of that ;)
