"I wanted a beautiful outdoor engagement shoot and asked our photographer Closer to Love to find the perfect location. I always wanted a beach shoot but I also envisioned a field with tall grass and rolling hills. After weeks of wracking my brain, our photographer found two incredible spots in Laguna Beach. It was amazing! Our photographer knew of a secluded field that was everything I wanted. Afterwards we moved to our beach location and took more beautiful photos with the sunset. Our photographer asked if we were willing to get in the water and we thought why not?! We were soaked and covered in sand but it was all worth it. I could not have imagined a more fun, adventurous and truly magical engagement shoot." -Tammy & Roland
Their love story: Roland and I knew each other as friends before we became “official”. We met about six years ago through a mutual college friend who hosted a gathering after he returned from serving in Afghanistan. When I walked in I saw Roland sitting at the dining room table and instantly felt the butterflies. We talked for hours and when it came time for me to leave, like a gentleman he walked me to my car. We said our goodbyes, and I honestly did not think I would ever see him again. But lo and behold, behind the scenes Roland made it his mission to make sure I was invited to other outings so he could see me. Fast forward three years, one random night he finally worked up the courage and asked me to dinner. Pretty clueless about everything I accepted his offer and well as many say, when you least expect it, it happens. Literally our feelings for one another changed over night and we both knew that there was something special between us.
How he proposed: One thing I learned early on is Roland is not a planner haha, but you can never fault a man for trying because he sure did surprise me! He proposed to me by the water at Seaport Village in San Diego. Unfortunately, he did not plan for the hordes of people that were there for the Food Festival and the fact that I am not a fan of public proposals. So there in crowd he got down on one knee and popped the question. Of course I said yes! It all happened so fast, but it was a beautiful moment because I knew it was from him. Brownie Points: He had a photographer friend there to take photos of the proposal!
