"We had two locations for our wedding in Los Angeles – the Neighborhood Church for our ceremony and Palos Verdes Golf Club for our reception. We stayed at Terranea Resort on our wedding night.
The vision for our wedding was classic and simple and our color theme was cream and navy, but we also added green throughout. The venues are so beautiful in their own right, so we didn't want to go overboard with too many colors or decorations.
For guest entertainment, it was really important for us to have a live band and unique food and beverage combinations. At the cocktail hour, we had a solo guitarist playing while our guests were served with some of our favorite craft beers. After dinner, we opened up the dance floor with a live band. We also added a cookie bar and In-n-Out burger for late-night snacks. Our guests said they really appreciated those extras." -Bride & Groom
The Proposal:
On a routine work morning, Robin's boss called her into his office and asked her if she would catch a flight to New York the next day for an important business meeting. The meeting had been on the calendar for a while, so she didn't suspect anything out of the ordinary. But, little did Robin know, Chris had planned a secret proposal trip with the help of her coworkers. After touching down in New York, Robin went to Washington Square Park to meet up with one of her girlfriends. When she arrived at the park, Chris was standing there. Confused, she ran up and hugged him and asked what he was doing there? Chris got down on one knee and proposed. Robin was a little speechless, but she eventually said yes!
About the attire:
Bride: I tried on many options before finding my wedding dress. I was looking for a dress with lace, but also wanted ballgown style. I fell in love with a dress on Amsale's website and immediately wanted to see it in person. As soon as I tried it on, I knew it was perfect for me and everything that I wanted. Groom: Chris and his groomsmen rented their tuxes at The Black Tux in Santa Monica. Our wedding was black tie optional, so we knew we wanted to go with a classic tuxedo. To differentiate himself, Chris added suspenders, a peak lapel jacket, and a white pocket square.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
We hired a good wedding planner and it was definitely one of our best decisions. We found some of our favorite vendors from them. Planning a wedding can be extremely overwhelming, so it was really helpful to have an expert opinion and someone you can rely on when making decisions. We also had a live rock band and a DJ. We were so happy with Luxury Entertainment Group and our band "Rebel Rebel." Their performance made it truly an unforgettable night for us and our guests. Finally, we were so lucky to find our wedding photographer, Devon Donnahoo. We knew she was perfect for us the moment that we first sat down with her!
What were your favorite parts of the day?
One of our favorite parts of our wedding was the first look. On the wedding day, there's so much anticipation and emotion building up. Having a brief moment to share that privately with your future life partner was something that we were glad we did. The rest of the day went by so fast! We also took dance lessons, which we highly recommend doing! We practiced once a week for two months leading up to the wedding since neither of us knew how to dance. Our first dance song was "Tupelo Honey" by Van Morrison.
What did you do for favors?
We hired Lilit Barsegyan of Draft in Style as our craft beer vendor and she gave us a great idea for our guest favors: Belgian craft beer glasses with our “H” monogram and wedding date affixed to the front. We thought it was a great idea, so we did it! Alongside the craft bar stations there were two tables full of our custom beer glasses with a sign that encouraged our guests to take the glasses home with them.
