About their wedding: "Neither one of us loved big formal, fancy weddings. All we both wanted was to have a wedding that represented us. I grew up with my grandparents living in Bermuda, and I would spend the summers with them there. I took John to Bermuda for the first time last summer and he feel in love with it. That is when he had the idea of doing a Bermuda themed wedding, Bermuda suits and all! We are members at the Balboa Yacht Club, and John is an avid boater, so he wanted to do nautical/Bermuda. We wanted to keep it casual, and incorporate the food we love, so we decided to go with sliders, mac and cheese, tomato soup and grilled cheese, etc. John is known for his late night eating, so he had to have a taco cart pull up for late night eats too. My grandma, who had passed away just before the wedding, used to serve us homemade waffles with ice cream and chocolate sauce for dinner when we would visit them in Bermuda. When we took John, my mom carried on the tradition and made them for us. John loved them. He had the idea of honoring my grandma in a way that she would love, and serving that instead of a wedding cake.
Other than those items, we kind of left it up to Lindsay to take care of the rest. I was a little more hands-off than she would have probably liked!! John and my mom were the ones who had all the opinions. Luckily Lindsay understood exactly what we wanted and just took care of it all!! I think some of my favorite parts of the day were seeing the room all done for the first time right after we walked down the isle. It was amazing. Better than i could have ever imagined with the furniture, the flowers, and the ceiling. John and i got to walk through before any of the guests came in. We also loved how casual and relaxing the day was. It all went so smoothly, and was just fun for us. It all turned out exactly how we wanted it too." -Lindsay & John
