About the shoot: "Southern California is filled with wonderful cultures and history. This styled shoot shows off one of those cultures – Chumash Indians. An Enlightened Event designed and coordinated the styled shoot to help brides think outside the box of vintage and rustic weddings that we see every day. The design complimented the outdoor aspect that we are lucky to have in Southern California. We brought in feathers and deep bold colors to represent the different colors of the earth. In addition, the reds, yellows, and oranges that Unique Floral Designs incorporated into the floral arrangements aligned with the colors that the Chumash Indians’ ancestors used to decorate their caves. We thought that masculine elements such as the leather chairs, the wood table, wood centerpiece that the floral arrangements were set on symbolized how the Chumash Indians used the land around them. One of our favorite pieces was the small wood “boat” that was used to display the escort cards. This was an important detail because the Chumash Indians distinguished themselves as boat builders. This styled shoot is masculine yet elegant and honoring some of the things that make the Chumash Indians unique." -Poiema Photography
