"Katie and Nick wanted to give a period feel to their wedding. For their engagement session, they wanted a boardwalk empire feel, which tied into their Casablanca themed wedding. Many guests dressed up in clothing from the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's. Walking the red carpet into the ballroom you were instantly transformed into another era. It was a mix between Great Gatsby and Casablanca. The tables were complete with old fashion lamp posts and over sized vases with flowers and feathers. Outside the reception sat a beautiful, 1930s Roadster ("Isotta Fraschini 8a Flying Star" to be exact.) The bride wore a beautiful beaded fit and flare gown and the groom wore a searsucker suit, with cufflinks from his grandfather." -Bethann Greenberg Photography
About their wedding day: "I NEVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD HAVE A WEDDING LIKE I HAD, AS A CHILD OF DIVORCE, I WANTED TO ELOPE, BUT MY HUSBAND IS A BIG FAMILY MAN AND WANTED A PARTY HE COULD ENJOY. I AM SO GLAD WE OPTED FOR THE WEDDING INSTEAD OF ELOPING. I AM VERY LUCKY TO HAVE A MOTHER IN LAW WHO IS VERY CREATIVE AND CRAFTY. SHE HAS AN EYE FOR DESIGN AND PLANS THE BEST PARTIES. AS FOR PLANNING I PRETTY MUCH LEFT THE DESIGN PART UP TO HER AND HER FRIENDS AT ROSEMARY DUFF FLORIST. I KNEW THAT THEY WOULD BLOW EVERYONE AWAY WITH THEIR CREATIVITY AND DESIGN, AND THEY DID. NICK AND I ARE MEMBERS IN THE ART DECCO SOCIETY OF LA AND AS PART OF THAT WE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE 1920S TO 40S AND ALL THINGS ART DECCO. OUR FAVORITE MOVIE IS ALSO CASABLANCA. WHEN WE TALKED ABOUT OUR WEDDING WE WANTED TO GO WITH A THEME AND THE ART DECCO-CASABLANCA THEME WAS PERFECT FOR OUR PERSONALITIES. IT HELPED THAT THE CENTER FOR THE ARTS HAD ART DECCO LIKE ARCHITECTURE WHICH WAS A GUIDING PART IN OUR VENUE CHOICE. FROM THERE I PICKED A GATSBY STYLE DRESS AND SEERSUCKER AND BOW TIES FOR THE GUYS (NICK LOVES BOW TIES). I AM IN LOVE WITH FACINATORS, SO MY MOM MADE MINE AND ALL THE BRIDESMAIDS FEATHER FACINATORS TO STICK WITH THE THEME. OUR BRIDAL PARTY WAS QUITE LARGE AND AS WE HAVE BEEN DATING FOR 8 YEARS, EACH FRIEND WAS NOW BOTH OF OUR FRIENDS SO I DECIDED TO PUT THEM IN AN ARCH AROUND US TO SHOW THE UNITING OF TWO SIDES. THE WEDDING ITSELF WAS WONDERFUL. NICK AND I DID A FIRST LOOK BEFORE THE WEDDING WHICH QUELLED THE NERVES AND GAVE US SOME ALONE TIME BEFORE. IT ALSO ALLOWED US TO TAKE ALL BRIDAL PARTY PICTURE BEFORE SO THAT WE COULD ENJOY SOME OF THE COCKTAIL HOUR. I HAD BOTH MY MOM AND DAD WALK ME DOWN THE AISLE. WE HAD A CATHOLIC CEREMONY THAT WAS PRESIDED BY FATHER JAMES RAFFERTY WHOM THE FAMILY HAS KNOWN FOR OVER 20 YEARS. WE HAD VERSES READ BY OUR GODPARENTS WHICH WAS SPECIAL TO US. THE GUESTS WERE 200, A MIX OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS FROM CLOSE AND FAR. EVERYONE WAS ENCOURAGED TO DRESS TO THE THEME. WE HAD A LIVE BAND PERFORM THE CEREMONY, COCKTAIL HOUR, AND RECEPTION. THEY WERE AMAZING AND KEPT THE PARTY ALIVE. WE HAD A PHOTO BOOTH FOR THE GUEST BOOK, WHICH I HEARD WAS A HIT WITH PARTY GUESTS. THE BEST PART WAS MY HUSBANDS TOAST AND SPEECH TO ME WHICH THEN LED INTO OUR FIRST DANCE WHICH WAS "AS TIME GOES BY"- RICK AND ILSA'S SONG FROM THE MOVIE CASABLANCA. IT WAS A WONDERFUL DAY."
