"Erik and I were good friends throughout our time at the University of Kansas. After graduation life took us other places and Erik ended up being stationed in Twentynine Palms, CA. After about two years of being out-of-touch Erik asked if I would be his date for the Marine Corps Birthday Ball and the rest is history! I ended up moving out to Twentynine Palms in early spring 2015. Unbeknownst to me, Erik was already planning to propose. We always liked to take little weekend trips throughout southern California to get out of the desert and Big Bear Mountain is one of our favorites. As soon as we got engaged we knew that would be the place we'd take our engagement photos. Southern California is where we rekindled our friendship, grew to love one another, make our home, and continue to find adventures every chance we get. There was no doubt that getting engaged here (on Catalina Island) taking our engagement photos in Big Bear, and getting married in Orange County fully reflects our love story. SoCal will always have a very special place in our hearts no matter where the Marine Corps takes us." -the couple
