"My husband, Mike and I were married inside Disneyland this September 16th, 2013. But let me tell you why this day is so important (besides the obvious):
Once Upon a Time...It was August 16th when I met the man of my dreams. One month later, on September 16th we became official. On October 16th we went to Disneyland for the first time. Exactly one month after that we returned and realized what a weird coincidence all these 16ths are. It was then we made a pact to go to Disneyland every 16th of the month. No matter how busy or angry we are at each other we would set this day aside for each other. And since that day, years ago, we have kept to this promise.
Naturally, he proposed on the 16th of the month at Disneyland and then there was no question where we would get married (and when). Yep...at Disneyland on the 16th. We actually became the first ever couple to have our Ceremony in Adventureland taking place in Aladdin's Oasis. It was seriously a dream come true and so much fun (and the food was HIGHLY complimented yummmm).
Now it is life after the dreamy fairy tale wedding and we have definitely had our trials. We planned to do a 1 year anniversary photo session inside the park and revisit our venues in our wedding attire (which we are not allowed to do normally) but I had found out I was expecting and plans got canceled. A few months later, I got laid off from my job & lost my health care benefits making it very hard on us. Then we lost our child. This devastated us and I can tell you there is no greater loss than that of a child. My husband and I grew so strong after this and decided to put back on the anniversary shoot again to give us something to look forward to and something to celebrate.
Our anniversary was an amazing day filled with magical moments (as you can clearly see) and wonderful people. We got to go in the park before it opened and got it all to ourselves as we wondered Fantasyland and Adventureland. Then we returned that evening for a spectacular dinner in the private Club 33 inside of Disneyland. We closed the park down in there and were the last ones to exit Disneyland that night.
Literally from park open to park close it was one of the most pixie dust filled days of my life, next to my wedding and the day I met my husband. Disneyland brings magic and happiness to many lives, and it was the perfect venue for our celebration. Our love is so strong just from these first two years of marriage and I look forward to many many more. I cherish our tradition, I look forward to seeing everyone at Disneyland on the next 16th of the month!"
