"This shoot was an absolute DREAM to work on. While creating this shoot, I wanted to keep two things in mind. The environment that we were going to be in and the overall mood that I wanted to convey to the viewer. I knew that we were going to be working in a cozy trail nestled in a lush tunnel of blue eucalyptus, so I really wanted that. I’ve also been super inspired lately by different natural textures and patterns found in certain minerals like black marble and rose quartz (I mean, who isn’t?!) For both the tablescape and bridal portraits, I really wanted the viewer to get a sense of familiarity while also adding some fun and fashion forward non traditional elements that haven’t been fully explored in the wedding industry. I really wanted to bring the environment into the tables cape. We laid all of the pieces on top of a hand painted black marble surface which is held up by hairpin legs (Totally a super easy DIY project!). I chose a color palette of golds, grays, blues and muted pinks drawing inspiration from marble, glass and rose quartz. The narrow trail opened up to an amazing field. Our BHLDN gown had an amazingly rich charcoal color that paired perfectly with the brushed gold crown, the bride’s natural make-up look, and the sun kissed glow of the field. This just goes to show you that your bridal look can still be elegant without having to stick to the traditional white gown that we’re so used to seeing. Creating a unique art piece with timeless beauty and simplicity is what we strived to achieve with this shoot." -Justin Critz Photography
