This session was such a unique one because of the rain! You know here in Southern California, when it rains, everyone pretty much stops what they're doing, and just watches it come on down! Well I wasn't about to let that happen, I wanted to take full advantage of the change in season! Originally, we planned to visit the Newport Back Bay for Tony and Phyu's engagement session. Phyu ordered a small bouquet from Julep Bloom Designs, and spent the day getting her make up and hair professionally done. So when she called me after the rain started to really come down, I knew she would be super bummed to cancel also. We came up with the idea to go to her previous work place, the Newport City Hall, as we knew there would be coverings from the rain as well as pretty landscapes. They were concerned it wouldn't be as outdoorsy as they wanted, but I assured them their session would be unique all on it's own! About 10 minutes after we got there, the rain slowed down to a simple little sprinkle, and we were able to walk freely around the landscaping to get a variety of shots for them. In some of the shots, you can even see what looks like glitter in the sky, but it's just rain! We started calling it the glitter rain! I was super pleased with how the the "gloomy" session was going, but couldn't believe what happened next. The skies parted, the sun peeked through, and while I was busy capturing those fresh sun rays in highlighting their hair, Phyu excitedly pointed out their was a giant rainbow in the sky!
