"We really wanted a wedding that showcased the natural beauty of Southern California. We're very fond of our home state and we really tried to let that love shine through in all the details. Maryanne stained and burned each guest's initials into a wooden California shaped place card. Matt hand selected the wood from a local arborist that became the chargers on the dinner table (after careful sanding and staining). In true LA fashion and keeping true to who we are, the entire wedding was 100% vegan, from cocktail hour to dessert! And the bar featured some of the great selections to be had in the immediate area with micro-brewed craft beer from Ladyface Ale Co. and locally produced wine from Malibu Family Wines. Winter in SoCal is rarely THAT cold and despite the time of year we were able to hold both our ceremony and our reception outdoors, but not without the help of some throw blankets, space heaters plus lots and lots of dancing! Our venue was stunning and we could not have found a more beautiful place for our special day - hundreds of giant California Oak Trees dotted the property and provided a constant woodsy backdrop for the event. Our floral decoration consisted mostly of evergreen and eucalyptus that really played into the forest-like theme of the wedding. As a bride and groom we both agree that what made the day exceptional was our vendors...our photographer, videographer, coordinator/florist, DJ and caterer each deserve special shout outs for being so calm and peaceful...they really gave us such a sense of ease. Coordinating all the little DIY details was tough but well worth it when our day-of vision came to life. Our friendly advice for all those on the wedding planning journey is to do your research and spend time vetting your vendors...they can truly make or break the experience. Above all else, make sure to have moments that are just for you and your groom - whether its a first look, a long first dance, stolen glances or a sweetheart table just for the two of you. We found moments like those to be the most memorable." -bride & groom
