Romantic Jewish Wedding at Noor Pasadena

"The vision of our wedding was really a combination of two elements, nature, and a good party. We love the outdoors and really wanted to have a lush floral/outdoor vibe, but at the same time, our focus was on our family and friends and having a great time celebrating with them. Because of this we really wanted a venue that provided us with a beautiful outdoor ceremony, but also an indoor ballroom for a great party. We were able to find that at Noor in Old Town Pasadena, which gave us the best of both worlds.

I have always loved deeper color tones and feel in love with a beautiful burgundy color, so we decided on a burgundy and blush color palette with pops of navy and green. Because of our love for flowers and the outdoors, the style of our wedding was very lush and floral. Our flowers were lush with a hint of bohemian style through the addition of Proteas. We also did all of our pictures at Pasadena City Hall to be able to get the outdoor, nature feel we wanted."

How did you choose your wedding venue?
When looking for a wedding venue we really wanted an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception. We also wanted a one-stop shop as the majority of our guests were coming in from out of town, so we didn’t want them to have to travel to multiple places the day of. We ended up finding a beautiful venue in Old Town Pasadena called Noor, which had everything we were looking for! Noor had a stunning outdoor courtyard terrace for the ceremony, which was situated around a beautifully ornate fountain with old world trellis and hanging plants.  The terrace was made private with 360-degree satin white draping and was just stunning. The reception took place in the art nouveau inspired Sofia ballroom, which had a 1920s-inspired foyer attached with a long, burnished wooden bar. There was also a private balcony that overlooked Old Town Pasadena, Pasadena City Hall, and the San Gabriel mountains, which added a nice touch for cocktail hour and for guests to get some fresh air throughout the party. Ultimately, we choose this venue because they had the style we were looking for in a ceremony and reception, had an extensive and diverse menu list that could accommodate any dietary request, and was run by a wonderful manager Robert who was all around a great person and didn’t make us feel like just a client, but friends.

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?
Jordan and I are both Jewish, so having a traditional Jewish wedding was very important to us. We had all of the traditional elements such as a Ketubah singing ceremony with our family beforehand, being married under a chuppah that was draped with my father’s Tallit as the roof, and partaking in the ceremonial rituals. Another special part of our day was having Jordan’s little sister and brother as our flower girl and ring bearer. It was really important for us to have them part of our day as much as possible, so they spent all morning with us respectively getting ready, taking part of the pre-wedding festivities, taking pictures with us, and being part of our ceremony. They were just the cutest and definitely stole the show!

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.
Since Purdue is such a huge part of our love story, and many of our guests were friends we met at Purdue, Purdue was definitely an underlying theme of our wedding. All of Jordan’s groomsman were his fraternity brothers from Purdue so we gifted each groomsman Purdue cufflinks to wear with their tuxes. Purdue also has popular bars on their campus, so we contacted our favorite bar (Harry’s Chocolate Shop) and were able to have them ship us 1,000 of their signature cups, which all of our drinks from the bar were served in. Lastly, our open bar also had a signature drink guests could choose from, which was a Purdue Classic called “The Baltimore Zoo.”

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
Our advice to couples planning their weddings is to remember that there is no wrong way to have a wedding! Whatever you both want is the right way! The only thing that matters is choosing what YOU and YOUR fiancĂ© want, and not letting anyone else’s opinions stray you away from that. There were plenty of times where we had friends/ family try to impose their visions or persuade us to do something we didn’t necessarily want or envision our day to be like, so remember to stay true to what you both want and don’t feel scared to stand up for it!
