"Being a destination wedding, we wanted our venues for ceremony and reception to feel very traditional Santa Barbara--Spanish architecture with red-tiled roofs, white stucco, wood beams, etc. It is a place we hold near and dear to our hearts as it's where our love story began. My vision was to embrace the beauty of the existing architecture and complimenting it with romantic touches. The ceremony site at the Courthouse was so beautiful as is that we did not add any decor (only a sign that said "pick a side, any side, you're loved by both the groom and bride..."). We had white wooden bistro chairs which were a nice compliment to the bright green lawn and beautiful backdrop of the courthouse. The reception venue at El Paseo was so beautiful as is as well, adorned with 2 beautiful live trees in their courtyard, laced with twinkle lights. We hung white papel picado that was "wedding-themed" across the balcony and had red and white flowers in silver compotes, and floating candles in hurricane vases of assorted heights as centerpieces. El Paseo had a beautiful fountain that we also ordered extra rose petals for with floating candles. As a nod to Michelle's Korean tradition, we used a traditional Korean screen as the backdrop to the cake table with two wooden ducks that are traditional gifts for the married couple (wishing them good luck, good fortune, and happy marriage). Our general style was romantic and elegant. Our colors were white and red." -Bride & Groom
